PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: October 15, 2026
The Plated Lab operates this store and website, including all related information, content, features, tools, products and services (the "Services"). The Plated Lab is powered by Shopify. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose your personal information when you visit, use, or make a purchase through the Services or otherwise communicate with us. If there is a conflict between our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy, this Privacy Policy controls with respect to the collection, processing, and disclosure of your personal information.
By using and accessing any of the Services, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy and understand the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described here.
Personal Information We Collect or Process
"Personal information" means information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to you or another person. It does not include information that is collected anonymously or that has been de-identified. Depending on how you interact with the Services, we may collect:
- Contact details including your name, billing and shipping address, phone number, and email address.
- Personalization details including the names, dates, messages, contact information, logos, photos, artwork, and other content you submit to be engraved or cut on your order. This may include information about other people (for example, a gift recipient's name or a business card's contact details). Please only submit information you have the right to share.
- Payment information. Payments are processed by Shopify and its payment partners. We do not see or store your full card number. We receive limited details such as the payment method type, the last four digits of a card, and transaction confirmation.
- Account information if you create an account, including your login details, preferences, and settings.
- Transaction information including the items you view, add to your cart, purchase, return, exchange or cancel, and your past orders.
- Communications with us including information you include in emails, messages, direct messages on social media, proof approvals, and customer support requests.
- Device and usage information including your browser, device, IP address, pages viewed, and how you interact with the Services, collected through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies.
Personal Information Sources
- Directly from you when you place an order, submit personalization details or files, create an account, or contact us.
- Automatically from your device when you use the Services, through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies.
- From service providers and partners such as Shopify, payment processors, shipping carriers, and apps that help run our store (for example, product personalization apps).
- From social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, when you interact with us or shop with us there.
How We Use Your Personal Information
- To make and deliver your order. We use your information to process payments, create your design and proof, engrave or cut your item, ship it, send order updates, and handle returns or issues.
- To provide and improve the Services, including remembering your preferences and improving our products and website.
- Marketing and advertising. If you opt in, we may send you promotional emails or text messages. We may also show you ads on other websites and social media based on your activity on our store. You can unsubscribe from marketing at any time.
- Security and fraud prevention, including detecting and preventing fraudulent or unsafe activity.
- Communicating with you and providing customer support.
- Legal reasons, including complying with applicable law, responding to valid legal process, and enforcing our terms and policies.
We use your personalization details only to make your order. We will not post photos of your custom order or its personalized text publicly without your permission.
Cookies, Pixels, and Advertising Partners
We use cookies and similar technologies to run the store, remember your cart, understand how the site is used, and measure and improve advertising. This includes:
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram), using the Meta Pixel, advanced matching, and the Conversions API. These share information about your activity on our store (such as pages viewed and purchases), and may include hashed contact details such as your email or phone number, with Meta so we can measure and show ads. You can manage this in your Facebook settings under Off-Facebook Activity.
- Google, for product listings, analytics, and ad measurement.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Depending on where you live, you can also opt out of targeted advertising here.
How We Disclose Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We may disclose it in these circumstances:
- With Shopify and service providers who help us run the business, such as payment processing, shipping, apps that collect personalization details and uploads, email, and data storage.
- With advertising and marketing partners, such as Meta and Google, as described above. Under some state laws this may count as "sharing" for targeted advertising, which you can opt out of using the link above.
- When you direct us to, such as shipping a gift to someone else.
- To comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms or policies, protect our rights or the rights of others, or in connection with a business transaction such as a sale of the business.
Relationship with Shopify
The Services are hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes personal information about your access to and use of the Services in order to provide and improve the Services. Information you submit will be transmitted to and shared with Shopify and third parties that may be located in other countries. Shopify may also use information about your interactions with our store, other merchants, and Shopify to provide enhanced features. In those cases, Shopify is responsible for that processing. Learn more in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy, and exercise your rights through the Shopify Privacy Portal.
Third-Party Websites and Links
The Services may link to websites or platforms run by others, including social media. We are not responsible for their privacy or security practices, so please review their policies. Information you post publicly, such as comments or tags on social media, may be visible to others.
Children's Data
The Services are not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of majority in their jurisdiction. Personalized items may include a child's name when ordered by a parent or other adult. We use that information only to make the order. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it. We do not have actual knowledge that we "share" or "sell" (as those terms are defined in applicable law) personal information of individuals under 16.
Security and Retention
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no security measures are perfect, and we cannot guarantee complete security. Please don't send sensitive information (like full card numbers) to us by email or message.
We keep order and personalization details as long as needed to complete your order, handle remakes, returns, or issues, keep business and tax records, and comply with the law. You can ask us to delete your design files and personalization details after your order is complete.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, including New Jersey and other U.S. states with privacy laws, you may have some or all of these rights. They are not absolute and may apply only in certain circumstances.
- Access / Know: request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Delete: request that we delete personal information we hold about you.
- Correct: request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
- Portability: request a copy of your personal information, or that we transfer it to a third party, in certain circumstances.
- Opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising: use the opt-out link here. If you visit with the Global Privacy Control signal turned on, we will treat it as an opt-out request for that browser and device, and for your account if we can link them. Learn more at https://globalprivacycontrol.org/. We do not respond to other "Do Not Track" signals.
- Marketing: unsubscribe from emails using the link in any email, or reply STOP to text messages. We may still send messages about your orders.
To use any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity first. You may use an authorized agent, but we may require proof of their authorization. We will respond within the time required by law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Complaints
If you have a complaint about how we handle your personal information, please contact us. Depending on where you live, you may be able to appeal our decision or file a complaint with your state attorney general or local data protection authority.
International Transfers
We are based in the United States and currently ship only within the U.S. Your information may be stored and processed in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers operate.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the "Last updated" date.
